OPEN TODAY

I opened both today and yesterday, after a little last minute Christmas shopping !

I have had a couple of good sales this last week, the little green and white painted chest went yesterday to another one of my old customers.

She said she was buying it for herself. Generally  I have had a lot more people coming in. The sign up near the main road must be working !  I have been chaining it to a pole and keeping my fingers crossed I don't run foul of council.

Can't wait to get stuck into some jobs after Christmas I tried to get my husband on board with moving stuff last weekend but he wouldn't be in it. He is right of course, it will be a huge job.

Will be closed 23rd to 29th then back depending on what we are working on.

Once the move around is complete I'm looking forward to some workshop time in the new year.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year's

I'll be down at river in Maitland for the fireworks New Years Eve.

I used to be able to watch it from the verandah, but I will have to head to the river this year. It is usually a pretty good show.

In St Kilda

I flew to Melbourne yesterday to see my yougest daughter who is returning from working in Dubai .
She arrives early tomorrow. Today I went walking and hit a couple of my favourite op shops. They seldom disappoint. I got some great new things. I also had lunch in a vegetarian cafe on Carlisle St.
I was admiring the paint finish on the concrete floors as I need to revamp my selling space. I thought a paint finish on the old concrete floor might do the trick. I have seen this done before but this is informal. Iit reminds me of marbling and is a finish that improves with wear.
I'm sure it will give my selling space a much need lift. I can't wait to reorganize. I am going to repack very soon so I can reopen the unrestored area. I think it will make the shop space less cluttered and It will give me room for all the new things too.
I detest the hot weather.Coming to Melbourne has made me realize how miserable unproductive and unimaginative  hot weather makes me !

Pics of the work in the carpark

Painting and greening the carpark.

Rod was home this weekend and we finished painting in the carpark.
Rod lifted a few low bricks on the edge and added another 4 bags of crusher dust then levelled and rolled it.
We still have a few concrete repairs to do but now I can roll back that big roller door for some more light and air and it won't be an eyesore. I think I will wait until the weather is cooler to finish painting the rest of the place. We put some big pots out there and the old picnic table. The green really pops on the red and yellow backdrop.
So over these hot days.
Going over to see jim about my signs this morning. I haven't wanted to press him as his health has deteriorated so much it is almost an impossible task now. He has peripheral neuropathy and his deterioration has accelerated rapidly. It is affecting his balance speech and now eyes. It is gut wrenching as he has built a beautiful little workshop but he now struggles to move around out there. Such a lovely man he deserves better. Life can be cruel.
The second sign will be vinyl  I would never put him to so much trouble again. A friend that he trained is handling it. I am looking forward to getting back open again. This weekend my youngest is returning from Dubai finally after 9 months. I am heading to melbourne to see her and will open again when I get back. I will get her to  print those flyers as I had so much trouble with the files.
I'm still commited to reopening but I do need to organize more space and fix the lighting as it is a bit of a  dark hole. When the fence goes up I will push out through the red door but in the meantime though we will repack the storage area and push out the unrestoreds.
